Kick boxing techniki walkiImage via Wikipedia
Today was a great day! I enjoyed every minute - I had a nice walk with Lisa at Lunch - .83 miles :-) Nicely done and enjoyed a yummy turkey wrap (it was the left over Turkey Mis from the Lasagna) - I got home heated up a slice of Lasagna and had a salad... Delish (again) - and headed off to the gym from 5:15-7:50pm - I did Kick at 5:30 - This is a Kick Boxing Class - I was histarical - I finally got the routine down and realized I was pointed the wrong way - I kept forget to turn my legs with my swings... and this class has more moves then a dance class - your legs are going this way and that way and then over your head and back again - Wow Crazy and your arms - they are all over the place - My favorite is the Elbow Circle :-) I followed this class with Centergy - Love IT - 1 hour of stretch and balance work - makes me feel a little coordinated - It's not as easy as it sounds people - You are sweating and stretching and bending and rotating all over and it feels good - Plus you get to just lay down for the last 5 minutes of the class with your eyes closed (lights are off for the entire class) and you relax!  I didn't get to walk poor Keyanna - between getting off work - get home eat dinner - head to the gym - I got home at it was 8 and too late - I'll have to give her an extra long walk tomorrow... Good Night & Sleep well.

Romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. longifolia).Image via Wikipedia
So All day I was in a frump mood... I forgot to start drinking water until around noon and just was lagging feeling... almost grumpy.  I did the work I needed to at work and headed home... on a side note I enjoyed lunch I got two slices of the Cooked Turkey from Spencer's had two spoon fulls of Beets and a String Cheese... pretty good ... Breakfast was a Cliff's Bar at 11am... I gotta start eating Breakfast earlier! That is my goal this week! I was rocking it with the Oatmeal a few weeks ago.  I am trying to back off the nuts a little... and raisins (once I saw how many grams of sugar were in that tiny little box... I was in shock! I could have like 5 sodas for that amount... of course I get the natural vs added sugar cane... but wooo I think raisins are way to high in sugar for the taste)... once I got home I started making Turkey Lasagna with Whole Wheat Noodles - It came out Delish! I used 1/2 a box of Noodles and boiled them.  I put 1lb of ground Turkey in a pan and cooked it with 1 diced onion (medium), 1 diced Red Pepper (large size), 7 cloves (Average) if Garlic Diced Up, 1/4 tsp of Sea Salt freshly ground, 1/4 tsp of fresh ground pepper, 1 table spoon of Basil and Tyme (dry mix), and 3 leaves of Basil diced fresh (I would have put more but that was all I had left in the container), and 1 Tomato (medium) diced and 1 package of Mushrooms... I cooked together until the Turkey was cooked and the veggies were soft -> I started browning the Turkey 1st with Onions and Garlic for about 5 minutes so as not to over cook the veggies.  I got a square baking pan and put 1/2 of the Ground Turkey on the bottom and pour 1/4 of a jar of Spaghetti Sauce (I used a low salt one from Trader Joes) then I topped it with a layer of noodles... next I put a THIN! layer of Low Fat Riccota cheese (and I mean Thin... other wise you begin to loose the healthy side of this recipe -LOL) and then another Layer of the Noodles I topped that with another 1/4 of the jar of Spaghetti Sauce and sprinkled 1 cup of Low Fat Mozzarella Cheese on top with 1 tsp of Basil.... I counted everything out and it makes 6 servings and the total calories for the entire dish was 1100 so approx 185 calories per serving - It was low in Sugar and Low in Fat grams.  I served it with a Salad made of just Romaine Lettuce, Cucumbers and Tomatoes.  It filled me up even after a pretty intense Work out today.  I was in a Frump mood when I got to the gym... and I kicked it on the Eliptical for 15 minutes before my work out - I ran 1.33 miles in 15 minutes on the Eliptical... I was happy.  Jason had me do Mid Back, Upper Back and Triceps, Biceps and Ab work today.  I smiled so big when I did 15 full sit ups without having to stop once... that for me is a big improvement - sad... but again a big improvement - but by the3rd round it was getting hard - I needed help the last 5-8 ish I was blacking out...LOL ... after 30 minutes of weights I got to have some fun on the Eliptical more - busted it out for 1/2 an hour! :-) I got home ate Dinner and walked Keyanna 1.5 miles and let her play at the Dog Park for while - All and all a nice DAy!

Zumba crowdImage by Cimm via Flickr
So I had a very active Weekend.  Friday was another great work out at the gym with Jason... it was not so cardio inspired... but it kicked my buttocks.  I had a great time at Bunco ... I filled half my plate with a salad so that I would fill full and satisfied amongst all the yumminess that is!  I did pretty good I did not feel like I over ate or had to feel guilty.
Saturday I got up and did ZUMBA dance at the gym! It blends tons of different styles of dance into one class... Salsa, tango, latin... alot of hip shaking! OMG the best Cardio work out ever! It was amazing and fun and high paced.  They only offer it at the gym on Wednesday at 11 am ... which I think BITES Butt... all the instructors say everyone is begging for more class times... I hope Kennedy listens! One instructor told us today we could take classes outside the gym at dance studios for approx $6-$8 per session... my only response to that is between what I pay for my trainer and gym membership... I do not have another $ to spend to take classes outside of the gym... I hope Kennedy adds at least 1 Zumba class on Saturdays at either SLO or AG.  I stayed around the gym until 11am for the Outside exhibition class Jason was teaching for the Open House AG Kenendy was having.  It was alot of fun and a work out... it was about 25 minutes long and felt really good.  I was teamed up with another girl that Jason trains... her name is Sheri and she and her husbands usually train right after me.
Jen came down around 6:30 and we headed out to the beach for the bon fire.  Last time we stopped and got cheese burgers and fries before we went down... this time I packed us a healthier meal ... chicken salad sandwiches on whole wheat  bread... rice cakes... grapes... it feels good to find healthier ways to do what I want.  We of course had some beers .... I got the MGD 64s... I think they taste great and the calories are within my budget :-)  We walked back and forth at least 5 times in the soft sand and it killed and burned... so I know I burned all my calories.
Sunday we got up I made French Toast and got some Coffee... Jen and I headed up to SLO and I started to not feel so good... really bad.  We canceled our Avila plans and I headed home... curled in a ball and layed on the couch all day. I felt really bad to not being active but my tummy was buggin... so Sunday was a flop day!
Today I got up around 9am .. and hips were killing me... I was so happy I had a chiropractor appt scheduled for today.  I went and took a swim at the gym to help my back and I was going to sit in the hot tub... but of course it was closed :-( for cleaning... No Fair! but at least I got a 1/2 hour in the pool.  My chiropractor was running late as usual so I missed Power and did Active instead... I was not impressed with my performance at all... I really felt like I didn't give it 100% ... I am hoping it is just a aftermath of yesterdays upset stomache... I just felt drained during the class... but my hips felt much better after my adjustment.  I feel like I am keeping my food in balance ... and I think I could still do better.
My overall mood is 50/50 I still want to see my numbers drop faster for all the work...I need to focus more on the health side then the vanity side

Thursday July 15th, 2010

Okay So I wasn't so great about my daily logs this week... Oops! A quick Recap -
Tuesday I worked out with Jason at the Gym... He had me Row Row Row on a Machine... it was all fun until about 8 minutes in... He does really good work outs... I am so red in the face! I got off the Row Row Row machine and had to do 15 sit ups followed by 15 pushups (which were probably really funny looking)... and back on the Row Row Row machine ( I call it Row Row Row because I kept singing that song) - My only problem was my attitude... it was in the dumps.  I hit the Eliptical 15 minutes before the work out and 25 minutes aftwards... The #s are not dropping fast and I was frustrated... I am praying its that muscle conversion thing - muscle is smaller for the same lb as fat - One can hope? hope ? hope? - Because I know I am working when I am in the gym. But Jason wants me to watch my calories alot closer - which is harder for me then I thought... I dont' like counting. - Jason called to encourage me and ask what I had for dinner - Turkey Burger Patty on 1 slice Wheat Bread... so I was on top of it :-) Yeah to me!
Wednesday I was suppose to go into the gym in the morning... so I overslept... and then had to take a happy pill to go to the dentist to have a root canal that didn't happen... but was too "happy" to hit the gym... I don't recall much of yesterday afternoon and I didn't work out! Oops!
Today I hit the gym with a great attitude worked really hard on the eliptical for 20 minutes before Jason worked my legs to their max.  (Christina's says to tell him everyone already makes fun of my chicken legs... LOL... ) and of course for his pure enjoyment...(LOL)... he included some sit ups on an inclined bench-that was fun! My body hurts so bad sometime when he is working me out... I just wanna sit down and cry my little eyes out! I think sometimes I just wanna quit - but I won't let myself... It is a physical and emotional and mental battle right now! I can only dream of whats in store tomorrow.  I had a really nice dinner of Breakfast for Dinner :-) mmmm one of my favorites... of course instead of crepes & and home style potatoes... it was whole wheat toast, 2 eggs and a piece of fruit - But it was a good dinner.  I snacked on a few pecans and called it good for dessert :-) Keyanna and I did our nightly walk up to the dog park and around the neighborhood.  I laughed because a few months ago I would drive her the 8 blocks ... now that makes me laugh... now we walk their and then over to rite aid and then back home... a good 2 miles and it is much more enjoyable then laying in front of the couch. :-) Happy Child
So I can't wait until tomorrow to see what Jason has in store.  I am meeting with him 3 times this week... lord help me and include me in your prayers :-)   Plus I am hitting the Zumba or Groove Dance Class in the morning.  Plus I am gonna get a good cleaning on the house - I feel like I am begining to get motivated.  I am also going to call Dr. Tehiss to have my Throid levels checked to make sure I am on the right dose...that would defentily effect weigth loss... ??? Hope to see the#s drop more soon... but gonna keep trying my hardest!

Step Aerobics Class at a Gym Category:Step aer...Image via Wikipedia
My trainer told me to try the Group Power class at the gym today - its a class where you lift light weights over and over and over again.... and then again.  I liked it but since it was my first time in the class they suggest you go even lighter with the weights then usual, so you can make sure you are hitting the form correctly.  It was a nice class but I didn't feel like I got a whole heck of alot out of it and missed the Group Active Class I usually do.  Group Active has 20 minutes Step Aerobics, 20 min Weights & 20 minutes Core/Stretch/Centergy... I usually feel it in that class...  But I will do as my trainer asks and continue with Power Group. For now! :-) I went back to gym and worked out on the Eliptical for 1/2 an hour and ran 3 miles... I left feeling alot better when I left then when I left earlier after Power... so I think I will either do a 1/2 Cardio before the class next time or afterwards.   I did take Keyanna on walk to the Dog Park and then around the neighborhood... but cut it short to head back to the gym.  Tomorrow I have an appointment with Jason (the trainer) at 5:00 - Lord help me :-) Hee hee... I need to learn to be quieter with my whinning... Its my way of motivating myself... but I am sure its annoying as all get out!
Food today was pretty good except I forgot breakfast.  Its hard because of my Thryoid medication I can't eat until 1 hour after I take it and I tend to remember around 8... then I start work at 9 and can't break until 11 - So I had a lunch/breakfast combo at 11:45 - It was gonna be my pita pockets... but ooops -> I left  the pitas at home.  So I went to the Japaneese place and got a California Roll and Miso Soup.  I was wondering all day where California Rolls fall in the Healthy / un healthy ... I figured healthy -> I just looked it up and they are approx 33 calories for per roll and there are usually 8 pieces.  http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/nutrition-calories/food/generic/california-rolls-sushi/ this place gave a pretty good list of suggestions for healthier alternatives, not that the count was too high for the CA Rolls -> but some of those items sound good too.  I snacked on Raisins and Kale Chips in the afternoon and had a Turkey Burger (on whole wheat bun), fresh corn with fruit for dinner.  I did go to Vons and buy a whole bunch of Pirate Booty and Rice Cake snacks... I was hungry and everything looked good... I almost bought a box of Lemon Cookies -> but a box in the house is a box in my belly... I did buy Dreyers Low Fat Ice Cream bars - they are only 160 calories per bar and 2 grams of fat... I am dying for chocolate and will cave soon...I am sure... everyone deserves a treat :-).  So now I have something in the freezer for that emergancy... Tonight dessert will be a few pecans when I get up stairs :-) Yum Yum.
The Kale Chips I listed above:  They are DELISH- Buy Kale at your local store and wash the bunch.  Next Cut/Tear the leafs off the main stalk and lay on a paper towel and pat dry.  Put the leafs (they should be about an inch long after you removed them from the main stalk) on a sheet right next to each other (1 cookie sheet should do 1 bunch) and drizzle about 1 tsp of Olive Oil over the top...next a few dashes of pepper and then a light amount of Sea Salt (or Kosher Salt, or regular table salt)... be very sparing with the salt -> too much and it will taste like seaweed.  Use your hands and make sure all leafs have a light coating.  Put the cookie sheet in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes - check after about 15 and kind of turn them - bake until most of the leaves are brown... should be crunch.  Ready to serve.  I prefer them warm and will reheat them in the oven under the broiler for 3 minutes once they have cooled.  A co worker is bringing me some other items to try with this receipe so I will let you know if we find a better one :-)

Who in the Public's Eye am I following

Richard Simmons. Cropped from a photo by Del F...Image via Wikipedia
There are so many great people to listen to and or diets out there to look into.  I think in our day and age we are so much more fortunate then our parents who pretty much had the choice of the Cabbage soup diet (which I still remember my mom doing - the memory haunts me) or Weight Watchers/Jenny Craig... I am sure there were more but those are what I remember from the 80s... ohh wait and or 80s icon Richard Simmons... how could I forget him with all his fashion sense... silly Cheri!  But we have a wide variety to choose from that can also be controversial... It gets hard to choose.  Or you have people like Sensa - just sprinkle away the weight! - What?!>! The Top of list I think of well know Diets is Atkins... I have seen this diet work for people and they kept the weight off... There is the South Beach Diet - Which I have seen the results of ... and so on and so on.  I've heard alot about eating for your blood type... - So many to choose from... which do I pick? Right now I am really focused on Jillian Michaels http://www.nbc.com/losing-it-with-jillian/video/ both the show and her books out on weight loss.  Her book mastering your metabolism is the 1st books she has done on Food and Diet... every other thing Jillian has been known for is her hard tough love work out ethics.  She did an excently job on both the book and the cookbook - I have both and am more the willing to share.  The funny thing in my opinion with all these diets is how controversial they are and how opionated we can all get based on our own results or thoughts or sometimes from a friend of a friend of  sisters friends results and or thoughts.  Right now... I am Jillian motivated 100% - I look forward to her show every week and can not wait to get another dose of inspiration (Losing it with Jillian Tuesdays on NBC 8pm ).  But someone else (that could be you) can think she is a complete nut and that she is just trying to make money - We are all welcome to that -our own opinon.  I think the best we can all do is support each other and watch for signs of any problems.
On a Jillian note... I am not a fan of her Diet Pills - I don't believe in Diet Pills or the Sensa Sprinkle concept - I don't think you can buy good health - Its an action with many choices involved: ie: Food, Exercise, Etc - You may get the result of thin from a pill (odds are you won't) but your most likely not getting good health.  If your gonna do something - I say do it right! And if you don't addressing all the issues unless you plan on taking the pills all your life your gonna gain the weight back, if you work hard and deal with all the issues you are more likely to succeed in my opinionated view.

Sunday 11:30am 7/11/10

So I am feeling in a good place, I just started my blog and posted my Intro... blah blah why I am doing this. I did forget to include... to get healthy I did quit smoking! It will be 8 weeks tomorrow - I am very very happy with that choice. So here is some more all about me...lol... actually since today is my off Gym Day (1 day a week) I will talk about what I have done for food/drink. I quit drinking alot of soda 2 months ago and keep it to to 1 a week (and only on weekends) I drink lots and lots of water :-) I can't get enough... I first did Crystal Light but have since decided I prefer just water it tastes fresh! Maybe some cucumbers and lime sliced in it :-) Thats yummy too. Food: I avoid anything with the word "Fast" in it. Fast food is crazy. I went to Weight Watchers and quickly decided... not for me! I want to focus on eating healthy but more of my weight loss focus is to be on the excersie side. I enjoyed Bday cake at my Friends daughters 2nd birthday yesterday- but I don't feel guilty- I am doing this to enjoy life - which includes food, I just want to eat healthy on the main stage of life and enjoy the pizza and beer as a treat here and there... where I have been eating the pizza as the main stage and salad here and there - well not all true... I love salad and eat it often always have... I actually didn't use to eat that bad (the last two years have been more about quick and easy -Ohh wait thats because I was lazy!) but I know I need to be more careful while I am losing the weight. I am addicted to hummus - Never thought that would happen... Hummus on a Pita bread (whole wheat) with Micrograins and Corn Salsa ... is the BOMB - Fresh, Organic, In Expenisve and DELISH! actually now I am hungry... gotta run and go eat some Hummus and Pita bread :-) I still feel dorky doing this :-) LOL
